Dearly Beloved, We are Gathered Here Today...because 2016.

DBC began in and because of 2016 - better known as “F*ck 2016.” Much of the world was already politically in shock and mourning when, on January 10th, the news of David Bowie’s death spread and left so many of us utterly heartbroken. We were blindsided, I mean, his new album “Black Star” had literally just been released 2 days prior. Then 3 months later PRINCE?! Really? No one saw that coming, especially not me. It was all downhill from there: Leonard Cohen, George Michael, Carrie Fischer... Hope was dead and our heroes were being replaced with scary clowns.
I had to do something. I am, and always will be, a music lover first and an artist second. I was already paying homage to my long lost record collection by painting some of my favorite album covers when Bowie died, but, after Prince, I needed a faster outlet and an affordable way for people to own art that honors our lost heroes in a way that not only brings a smile to the face, but also reminds us of that part of the hero...and hope inside us all. I searched my pagan soul, love of ritual, Italian Catholic heritage, obsession with death and Latino culture... and there it was, Veladoras - the 7 day candles I used constantly all over my house and on my personal altar, staring me right in the face. And so, my take on devotional candles and the name, Dearly Beloved, was born. All of Dearly Beloved's unique designs are 100% handmade and crafted in my home studio in Portland, Oregon. A little creativity, a little sparkle of magic, and a lot of love goes into each creation.
